Shahruddin bin Mahzan @Mohd Zin is a Professor in the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. He currently serves as the Dean for the Centre for Graduate Studies (CGS), overseeing the Postgraduate Programs, from 2021 till now. Prior to that, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from 2015 – 2020.

Shahruddin Mahzan obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1999. He started his career as a Mechanical Engineer at the Sharp-Roxy Electronics Corporation (SREC) Sdn. Bhd. in January 1999, before joining UTHM in August 2002. He then furthered his PhD study at the University of Sheffield, UK and obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2007.

He has participated in several local and international bodies. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) of the Institution of Materials, Mining and Minerals (I-M3), UK. He is also a member of the Board of Engineers (BEM) Malaysia.

Shahruddin is a Principal Researcher at the Centre for Non-Destructive Testing (CeNDTec) and an Affiliate Researcher at the Functional Composites Structure (FCS) and Structural Integrity and Monitoring Research Group (SiMREG). He has published various technical publications in reputable journals and conference proceedings.

His area of research is mainly on Damage Detection, Composites and Structural Health Monitoring. He has supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has 11 PhD and 9 Master’s students, as well as more than 65 undergraduate students who graduated under his supervision.
