UTHM Expert: Professor Dr. Noridah Mohamad

Noridah Mohamad is a Professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment (FKAAB), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). She obtained her BSc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Pacific, Stockton, California, USA in 1987 followed by MSc. in Civil Engineering (Structure) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2002, and PhD in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2010.

Prof. Noridah started her career as a lecturer at Ungku Omar Polytechnic in 1991 before joining UTHM in April 2004. She has taught civil engineering courses specializing in structure and supervised structure-related research for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her area of research includes Industrialized Building System (IBS), Precast Composite Structure, and Sustainable Construction Materials. She has been awarded several university, government, and industry grants for her research. She managed to graduate more than 10 PhD and Master’s students from local and foreign countries. She has published more than 100 publications which include proceedings, journals, books, and articles in reputable journals, conference proceedings, and newspapers.

Her management experience in FKAAB includes as the Head of Structural and Material Department (2011-2012), and Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni (2012-2015). Currently, Prof. Noridah is the Principal Researcher at Jamilus Research Center. She has participated in several local and international bodies. She is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), United Kingdom. She is also a Board of Engineers (BEM) Malaysia member.

Prof. Noridah has been acknowledged as an External Examiner for BSc. Construction Technology Program, at the Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Surveying, UITM Perak (2020-2022 and 2022-2024). She was also a Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Melbourne, Australia from 2015 to 2016.

Prof. Noridah considers engineering a pillar of development thus, a great and vibrant engineering education is crucial in society.
