Amir Khalid is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Faculty of Engineering Technology, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Johor, Malaysia. He is currently the Director of the UTHM Publisher Office (Penerbit UTHM).
Prof. Ts. Dr. Amir is also a Principal Researcher at the Centre of Automotive and Powertrain Technology and a member of the grant evaluation panel for KPT and MOSTI. Prior to that, he was the Head of the Centre for Energy and Industrial Environment Studies (CEIES).
His research interests include alternative and renewable fuel for internal combustion engines, mixture formation, ignition process, combustion characteristics, optical observation with a high-speed camera and image processing techniques.
Prof. Ts. Dr. Amir completed his Doctor of Engineering (2011) in Automotive Engineering from University of Tokushima, Japan. He received his Master of Mechanical Engineering (2006), Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (2000) and Diploma of Mechanical Engineering (1998) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
Before he joined UTHM, he worked as a Research and Development (R&D) engineer at Panasonic AVC Network Johor Malaysia and Matsushita Refrigeration Sdn. Bhd. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a member of the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE), Japan Society of Automotive Engineering (JSAE), Board of Engineer (BEM) Malaysia, Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT).
