The 16th International Surveying Conference for Undergraduates Students (RISM-ISCU 2024), organised by the Royal Institute of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), and hosted by the Faculty of Technology Management and Business (FPTP), UTHM, was successfully held on 19-20 April 2024 at Dewan Sultan Ibrahim (DSI) UTHM.

The conference was inaugurated by Asc. Prof. Dr. Shafie Mohd Zambri, Dean, Faculty of Technology Management and Business (FPTP) and attended by Sr. Haji Adzman Shah Haji Mohd Ariffin, President of RISM. Among other attendees are experts, researchers, academicians and industry personnel from Malaysia and Singapore sharing their insights on challenges and future of young surveyors.

The theme “Sustainable Digitalised World: Charting the Future of Surveying Professionals” has brought together experts and professionals from various universities offering surveying programmes to discuss and analyse the current situation in 4 divisions of RISM, Quantity Surveying, Property Surveying,Geomatic Land Surveying, and Building Surveying.

The conference offered a diverse range of topics across 5 themes including Emerging Technologies and Digitalisation, Property & Economics, Governance & Management, and Education & Skills Development. 70 posters and 60 scientific research papers were presented by students, as well as innovative approaches related to surveying issues.

The participants gained insights from experts in their respective fields through keynote and plenary presentations by renowned speakers such as Sr. Ahmad Farrin, Director of CIDB Johor, Dr. Tan Liat Choon, Sr. Dr. Tan Liat Choon, Sr. Lim Swee Meng, Sr. Asrul Afendi and Sr. Hj Ishak Ismail.

The conference has provided a platform for the students to mingle and expand their social network for better surveying careers when they graduated in the near future.
