KUALA LUMPUR – Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and the British Council in Malaysia have forged a collaboration through a memorandum of agreement (MoA) that was signed in a ceremony that took place on 3rd of November at the British Council in Malaysia’s headquarters at Wisma Golden Eagle Realty, Jalan Ampang.

The main purpose of the agreement is the appointment of Centre for Communication Science (CComS) by the British Council as a registration centre for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

For the record, CComS is the centre of research (CoR) of Centre for Language Studies (CLS), UTHM. The appointment will certainly benefit aspiring IELTS candidates in the southern region as it will be easier for them to register for the test.

In her welcome note, Jazreel looks forward to welcoming UTHM students to take IELTS with the British Council and hopes that this partnership will further assist them in achieving their educational goals.

She looks forward for a successful and congenial collaboration between both institutions.

Tan Dencoln expressed his thankfulness to UTHM for agreeing to be part of the IELTS Partnership. He sees UTHM as an established higher learning institution in Johor and he considers this opportunity to work with UTHM as an important milestone for the British Council.

Dr. Azmi Abdul Latiff, the Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) of CLS and also the coordinator of the MoA, aspires that in the near future, UTHM will also be an IELTS training as well as testing centre.

“I strongly believe that this agreement will lead to more potential collaborations between the two parties in the fields of language education, culture, research and corporate social responsibility”, he added.
