Dr. Abdul Talib Bon is a Professor at the Department of Production and Operations Management, Faculty of Technology Management and Business, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.
He received his PhD in Computer Science with Distinction from the Universite de La Rochelle in France. His doctoral research was on the topic of Process Quality Improvement in Beltline Moulding Manufacturing.
He has been the Director of Teaching Factory since September 2016 and served as the Head of Program, Bachelor of Technology Management (Furniture Design and Manufacturing) with Honours from 2014 until 2017. Before this, he was the Deputy Dean (Research and Development) at the Faculty of Technology Management and Business from 2008 until 2011.
Dr. Abdul Talib Bon has over 36 years experiences of teaching in higher learning education. A major part of his teaching experience involves teaching mechanical engineering students in polytechnics. However, from the year 1999, he was allowed to be jointed in the Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia as a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department. At this university, he teaches Industrial Engineering, Project Management, Quality Control, Supply Chain Management, and Operations Management in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Dr. Abdul Talib Bon is also an honorary Visiting Professor at various Indonesian universities, including UNPAD, UNPAK, UMTAS, STIESIA, USU, and UN.
He served as an academic program external examiner for several Malaysian and Indonesian public and private universities.
Dr. Abdul Talib Bon is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences, sharing his expertise in production and operations management. He has presented his findings at international conferences in Dubai, Bandung, Bali, Manado, Detroit, Bangkok, Phuket, Riyadh, Tokyo, Sydney, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Manila, London, Bristol, Gdynia, Salzburg, Mumbai, and Dhaka over the years.
He has multidisciplinary research interests that encompass industrial engineering, quality management, and production and operation management. He completed 20 research grant projects as a project leader and member. He has supervised more than 100 undergraduate and 50 postgraduate research projects.
Dr. Abdul Talib Bon has served as the editor-in-chief, Editorial Board, and Reviewer for various Engineering Management and Industrial Engineering and Operations Management journals and conference proceedings as part of his expertise-sharing initiatives. He has published more than 346 Scopus International Journals and Proceedings and 10 books.
He is also President of the Industrial Engineering and Operation Management Society (IEOMS, Malaysia Chapter), a Global Council member of the Industrial Engineering and Operation Management Society (IEOMS), a senior member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineer (IIE), USA, a member of the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF), and a member of the Management Science and Operation Research Society of Malaysia (MSORS).
