Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) managed to maintain the tradition of emerging as the best local institution of higher learning (IPT) in the international level of Varsity Boat Race 2017 which was held from 3 to 7 October 2017 at Bukit Merah LakeTown Resort Perak .

The UTHM rowing team comprised Pagoh Campus diploma students combining with some senior rowers won two silver medals for the W8 + (Women’s Eight Plus) and W4- (Women Four Minus) events as well as a medal bronze for the Lw2x (Lightweight Women Double Scull) event.

The Varsity Boat Race 2017 tournament was participated by 21 universities from within and outside the country. Upon obtaining 61 points, the UTHM Rowing Team has been crowned the overall champion of local universities and an overall fourth place in the international category.

The prestigious tournament was officiated by the Higher Education Minister YB Dato ‘Seri Idris Jusoh in conjunction with the 10th Varsity Boat Race.

The absence of the main rider, Mohd Zulfadli Jusof had affected the opportunity for the UTHM’s team to win a gold medal for Men Single Scull event which has been the main holder of gold medal at the Varsity Boat Race Championship.
