The Centre for General Studies and Co-curricular, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) organised the Practical Training in Using Map and Compass on 25 November 2016 at Panti Mountain, Kota Tinggi, Johor. The programme involved 55 UTHM students and staff. The programme aimed to expose the participants on the basics in reading maps and using compass. It also aimed to produce university students with physical and mental strengths. Apart from that, it can strengthen ties between the UTHM and the local community. The activities conducted were awareness talks on fire and mountain climbing. UTHM provided transportation and climbing equipment. A sum of RM 500.00 was allocated for the programme and the total cost,in-kind and cash, was RM3,736.40
