BANDUNG, 19 August 2016 – At least 51 of the 110 researchers came from 14 countries participated in the International Conference of Soft Computing and Data Mining 2016 (SCDM 2016) which lasted from Wednesday – Thursday (18 – 19/8) at the Hotel Grand Preanger Bandung.
The conference was organized for the second time after last year was held in Malaysia. This time, the School of Industrial Engineering (FRI) Tel-U in collaboration with School of Computer Science and Information Technology of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Soft Computing and Data Mining Research Center of UTHM and AMCS Research Center Indonesia.
Steering Committee Chair SCDM 2016, Prof. Dr. Nazri Mohd Nawi, explained that SCDM dedicated to answer the challenges in the world of soft computing methodologies for data mining, which brought together researchers who are interested on it.
“The goal is to unite and bring together researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry to jointly develop soft computing and data mining as well as established a new collaborations on this field,” he said.
Telkom University Rector Prof. Ir. Mochamad Ashari, M. Eng., Ph.D., became one of the speakers at the conference described that soft computing on digital energy. Digital Energy is defined as a solution to modernize and optimizes how the energy is acquired, processed, and consumed. “Digital Energy is predicted as the main solution to answer the problem of limited energy on today’s digital era,” he said.
Rector also explained how the systems work especially electrical energy flows in our environment, ranging from the process to the development of technology until now.
“We never know how the electricity systems work flow in our homes, but if we look back there is a long process, from discovery to the process. The sources were diverse and evolving, from the simplest technology to nuclear era today, ” he said.
The Conference also invited the speakers from Australia, Prof. Dr. Jemal H Abawajy and Dr Aida Mustapha from Malaysia. While the Second day filled with parallel sessions and announcements best papers.
