PARIT RAJA, 30 June 2026 – Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) welcomed eight students from the Korea University of Technology and Education (KOREATECH), South Korea, as the first international participants to experience the university’s signature EduTrail, a flagship initiative under the UTHM EduTourism programme that transforms the campus into a living classroom.
The immersive learning journey introduced the students to UTHM’s unique blend of technology, culture, sustainability and innovation through eight carefully curated stops across the campus.
The participants are currently undertaking a four-week internship at UTHM’s Institute for Integrated Engineering (I²E), making the EduTrail their first comprehensive introduction to the university.
The programme began with a courtesy group photograph with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ts. Dr. Mas Fawzi Mohd Ali, before the students embarked on the full-day exploration accompanied by UTHM student buddies and guided by the EduTourism team.
At the Tunku Tun Aminah Library (PTTA), the students explored five interactive galleries that showcase UTHM’s academic strengths and cultural heritage.
These included the Johor Railway Technology Interactive Gallery, which brings Johor’s railway history to life through virtual and augmented reality technology, the Language and Culture Engagement Space (LENS), Drone Technology @ UTHM, featuring the university’s drone innovation and its spin-off company, Avitex Solution (M) Sdn. Bhd., the Makerspace innovation hub and the Gambus Johor Gallery, which celebrates the state’s traditional musical heritage.
The learning journey continued to the aircraft hangar, Sultan Ibrahim Mosque and, most notably, Lake Aspirasi, a campus reservoir recognised by UNESCO as an Ecohydrology Demonstration Site.
Rather than simply visiting landmarks, participants learned how each location reflects UTHM’s commitment to education, research, sustainability and community impact.
Through the EduTrail, visitors witness first-hand how engineering, environmental science and sustainable campus planning work together to address real-world challenges, turning infrastructure into an engaging educational experience.
Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd Adib Mohammad Razi, Head of department and Manager of Ecohydrology and EduTourism at the Sustainability Campus Office (SCO), said the programme reflects UTHM’s vision of making the campus itself an educational destination.
The visit reflects the growing strategic partnership between UTHM and KOREATECH since the signing of their Memorandum of Understanding in 2017.
This year’s internship programme marks the largest inbound KOREATECH cohort received by UTHM to date, further strengthening academic collaboration while providing international students with meaningful, experience-based learning through UTHM’s EduTourism ecosystem.
The participation of the KOREATECH students was coordinated by Madam Yeoh Li Cheng, Head of the Department of International Mobility and Student Experience, International Office, with the students hosted under the Institute for Integrated Engineering (I²E) and supported by UTHM student buddies.
