BATU PAHAT, 6 July 2025 – Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) recently welcomed students from four different countries for its Culture & City Vibes: UTHM Exchange Student Programme 2025, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to foster internationalisation and cultural exchange.

The programme has brought together 13 international students from Turan International University (Uzbekistan), Universitas Abdurrab and Universitas Nusa Putra (Indonesia), Presidency University Bangalore (India), and Riphah International University (Pakistan).

They were joined by seven UTHM students and three accompanying academic staff, forming a diverse and energetic team for this two-day one-night cultural immersion in Kuala Lumpur.

Throughout the programme, participants explored Malaysia’s rich heritage and urban charm, with a special highlight on city tour in Kuala Lumpur, including iconic landmarks such as KLCC, Pavilion, Bukit Bintang, Batu Caves, Dataran Merdeka, and Putrajaya.

The experience was more than sightseeing—it was a meaningful exchange of culture, perspectives, and friendships. Students engaged in interactive cultural sharing, bonded with UTHM buddies, and embraced the diversity of Malaysia in a warm, supportive environment.

The Culture & City Vibes programme not only strengthens UTHM’s global partnerships but also enhances intercultural understanding among students.

As the university works toward its 2030 internationalisation goals, such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping a truly global campus.

The programme also marked a significant milestone for the international students, who had spent the past semester at UTHM as part of their exchange programme.

With the semester drawing to a close, the Culture & City Vibes trip served as a memorable send-off before they return to their home countries by the end of July.

One of the participants, Sanketh from Presidency University Bangalore, India felt very grateful and at peace to be able to make an offering at Batu Caves.

“It was something truly special, the locals were so warm and welcoming — some even gave me things as a gesture of respect,” he said.

Another student Gulyuza from Turan International University, Uzbekistan, also reflected on the experience.

“This trip gave us unforgettable memories, Malaysia’s tall, beautiful buildings and its unique, natural surroundings amazed us, our group was full of energy and very united, we never felt bored,” she said.

Professor Muhammad Ramlee Kamarudin, Director of the UTHM International Office, commented that the programme reflects UTHM’s commitment to nurturing globally minded students who value cultural diversity and international collaboration.

He added that it is always encouraging to see students from different parts of the world come together and form genuine connections
