Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) alumnus, Dr. Muhammad Aamir has been selected to join the prestigious University of Oxford as a Senior Research Scientist.

Dr. Aamir is an experienced computer science professional specialising in Artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and data science.

He holds a Ph.D. from UTHM, where his research focused on advanced machine learning techniques.

He studied under the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM) and completed his Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Dr. Nazri Mohd Nawi, graduating on 5 January 2020.

His academic and career journey is a testament to the high-quality academic programme and globally competitive research standards upheld by FSKTM, UTHM.

The faculty is known for producing impactful research aligned with international benchmarks, contributing meaningfully to the global knowledge ecosystem.

Following his graduation, Dr. Aamir served as a staff member at FSKTM from 3 August 2020 until 3 August 2022, actively engaging in research and academic excellence.

Currently a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Oxford, he is also one of the affiliate data sciences researchers at Derby University.

Dr. Aamir is leading the AI-based project for wildlife conservation, leveraging cutting-edge technologies for global biodiversity monitoring.

His career includes significant roles as an AI & Machine Learning Development Engineer at the University of Derby and as a Principal Data Scientist, where he developed innovative solutions for integrated AR/VR and data science.

Apart from serving as a staff member at UTHM, Dr. Aamir has also teaching at several institutions including University of the West of Scotland.

His contribution to academia is highlighted by his numerous publications and active role as a reviewer for prestigious journals.
