BATU PAHAT – The “Energizing Young Entrepreneurial Leadership with Local And Global Networking” program organized by the Production and Operations Management Department (JPPO) and run by students from the Faculty of Technology and Business Management (FPTP), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) together with program advisors Prof. Associate Dr. Fadillah Ismail was conducted successfully at Pusat Minda Emas (PuMAS) UTHM on 23 to 25 November 2023.
This program was not only participated by students from FPTP UTHM but also involved year 5 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Tengku Mariam and year 6 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Kajang. This initiative aims to provide more comprehensive exposure and awareness to potential leaders and young entrepreneurs in the development of leadership skills.
In addition, in order to add basic and technical knowledge, this program also aims to give a real picture of current business and leadership practices that take into account aspects of sustainability to be more competitive from a local and international perspective.
Activities of the day first focusing on the facilitators in the circle UTHM students, session with Mr. Muhammad Najhan Abdul Rahim from The Johor Bharu District Office shared about the attitude that leaders need to have and how to present the improvement of self-achievement in terms of learning and experience through a “slide ” presentation. Mr. Syahrul Nizam Lukman’s session from University Counseling Center, UTHM give exposure to facilitator to identify each other’s identity and personality through test color personality inventory and inventory interest career sidekick.
The following two days involved students and facilitators in slots related to the difference in leadership attitudes between “bosses” and leaders, sharing by a speaker from Bangladesh, Zenia Jesmin Moni, and sharing from Khadijah Mualas Bahrol and Hanisah Hamidon from UTHM related to attitude leaders and way effective learning.
Deputy Dean of Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Anim Zalina Azizan hopes that this program can be made annual, making it an impactful initiative and strengthening the relationship between UTHM and the host schools. The opening and closing of the program highlighted this hope.
The involvement of students as facilitators in this program provides a unique teaching and learning dimension. They not only share knowledge but also play an important role in shaping the thoughts and views of the younger generation towards leadership and entrepreneurship.
It is hoped that the results of this program will produce young individuals who not only have strong leadership skills but also understand the importance of sustainability in a global business context. The success of this program reflects UTHM’s commitment in forming holistic and competitive future leaders.
