The University and Community Relations Office, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in collaboration with the Batu Pahat City Council, REC Development Sdn. Bhd., Johore NGO Alliance Council and Perdana Ummah Foundation organised the ‘Car Boot Sale Programme’ from 25 to 26 December 2015 at UTHM. The programme involved 150 UTHM students and staff, as well as 600 Batu Pahat car-booters. It was aimed at providing entrepreneurial opportunities to students and local community members. It also inculcated the reuse and recycle culture, and educate them on starting their own business. There were 579 cars involved in the programme, which made UTHM the biggest car boot sale organiser in the Malaysia Book of Records. A sum of RM5,000.00 was allocated for this programme and the total cost, in-kind and cash, was RM12,544.00
